Julie Desharnais holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Work as well as a Master’s degree in Organization Management. Early in her career, her interest in vulnerable populations leads her to take up a position as a school social worker in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve neighborhood. In April 2007, she becomes General Manager of the Assistance d’enfants en difficulté center of the Fondation du Dr Julien in the same Montréal neighborhood. As Clinical Coordinator, she is responsible for the overall organization of the service centre and supervises the psychosocial intervention team with Dr. Gilles Julien. Her vast knowledge of the community social approach and of the specific needs of children and families led her to give many conference talks to a variety of audiences in both education and the media.
